Why Use a Color Matcher?

Cross-stitch and embroidery patterns almost always specify thread colors using the DMC 6-strand cotton floss numbering system. It's the industry standard. However, you might have a large collection of Anchor or J&P Coats threads, or your local craft store might not carry the specific DMC color you need. This is where a conversion chart becomes essential.

While manufacturers have their own unique dye lots, these conversion charts provide the closest possible match, allowing you to substitute threads with confidence. Please note that due to variations in dye lots and monitor displays, the colors should be considered a close approximation. For projects where color accuracy is critical, it's always best to use the specified thread.
